The Pakistan Cricket Board launched the league (PSL – Pakistan Super league) on September 9, 2015, with five teams. Now, there are total six teams ( Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi, Quetta Gladiators ) representing six cities of Pakistan. The league operates as an unified company, with each club being owned and governed by investors, rather than an association of separately owned teams. The Seventh (7th) season of PSL had started from 27 January and ended on 27 February 2022.

PSL Point Table 2022 – PSL Season-7
Pakistan Super league – PSL is a professional Twenty20 cricket league, organized during February and March of each year. The PSL Season 7 has created intense competition as all of the PSL franchises competed to rank highest on the PSL points table. The seventh season of Pakistan Super League (PSL) looked to be the best one as all six PSL teams competed to bring championship.
The Pakistan Cricket Board office in Lahore serves as the league’s headquarters. The PSL had seven seasons total. Islamabad United is the most successful team in the PSL, having won two championships. Lahore Qalandars are the reigning champions after winning the 2022 championship.
Each team has tried to win maximum matches to get more points, in order to move up in the PSL Point Table 2022 and to come in top four spots on the PSL Points Table 2022 and qualify for the PSL play-offs. To be eligible for the PSL playoffs, all the six teams has been tried to move in top four teams in the PSL Point Table 2022.
On 24 July 2021, PCB announced that the seventh season of PSL will be held in January and February 2022 with all matches taking place in Pakistan. The National Stadium, Karachi, has hosted 15 matches, while the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, has hosted 19 matches including the playoffs.
The PSL Season 8 is scheduled to take place from February 13 to March 19 2023, first match of the tournament between Multan Sultans and defending champions, Lahore Qalandars will be held in Multan. The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will host the PSL 8 championship game.
PSL Points Table 2022 Criteria
The PSL Points Table 2022 is a list of the league’s teams, ranked by their total number of points. Teams get points based on their match result . Teams receive two points for a victory during the PSL group stage and one point for a tie or no-result. The PSL Points Table 2022 uses the same points system as previous PSL seasons or any franchise T20 competition worldwide.
In the group stage, teams has been ranked according to the following factors:
- At the end of the group stage, the team with the most points on the PSL Points Table 2022 will take first place.
- The team with a greater net run rate will finish higher if teams have an equal number of points on the PSL Points Table 2022.
- If the points and the net run rate on the PSL Points Table 2022 are equal. The team that has the most victories throughout the group stage would have placed higher.
- If the other factors listed above are equal, The team with fewer losses will finish higher in the PSL Point Table 2022 .
- If each criteria remains constant. The outcome of the two teams’ head-to-head match will decide the league place.
The rankings will be based on who has get the most points after 10 group stage matches. The top four teams in the PSL Points Table 2022 advance to the next round. A win on the table will result in two points being awarded, a draw will result in one point, and a defeat will result in zero points. A super over will be conducted if a match is tied.
Play Offs
The PSL is played in a double round-robin format. The top four teams advance to the playoffs and final after they will play two matches against every other team. After the league’s group stage, there are series of matches called the PSL playoffs. Two qualifying matches and an eliminator match make up the playoffs. At the end of the group stage, the top four teams on the PSL Points Table 2022 advance to the playoffs.
Qualifier Match :- The team having first position in the PSL Point Table 2022 plays with the team having second position. The winner of this game advances to the championship game and needs one more victory to claim the PSL title. The loser advances to the second eliminator after this match.
1st eliminator match :- The team having second rank on the PSL Points Table 2022 plays with the team having third rank. The winner of this match proceeds to the second elimination round to face the loser of the qualifier, while the loser gets disqualified from the league.
2nd eliminator match :- Match is played between the loser of the qualifier and the winner of the 1st eliminator. The winner of this match advances to the PSL championship game, and the loser is out of the league.
If the match ends in a tie, the winner will be decided by super over. There will be an infinite number of super overs until a clear winner is determined.
